Dry Skincare with Deep Desert Roots
Fox10: Well, skincare is important, especially in the desert where hydration is key. One Tucson women found her fountain of youth by just looking out her window. She makes products using desert plants and healthy ingredients that can help you achieve that glow. In tonight's made in Arizona, it's Earth Based Body!
Nancy: “Every ingredient is super hydrating. They have been not only living but thriving in the fiercest desert on Earth. Many would argue the key to healthy youthful looking skin is hydration. Not easy to achieve naturally in the desert, or is it? We use Prickly Pear Cactus. Desert Aloe Vera juice is the base of the majority of what we do. Jojoba is also native.”
Fox10: Nancy Rimbergas started thinking one day about Arizona's native plants. They survive and thrive in the desert. So she started using their natural ingredients in her skincare line.
Nancy: “In our Cactus Crush, we use ground Prickly Pear Cactus as well as Prickly Pear juice that we get from Arizona Cactus Farm which is just down the street. This luscious cream is made to help with signs of crepe skin.”
Spotlight on Earth Based Body
Fox10: Nancy teamed up with Christina Mahar, CEO of Craft Beauty Lab to create Earth Based Body. It's a collection of hydrating skincare products with deep desert roots based in Tucson. Cactus crush is their best selling cream.
Christina: Typically this is done in a three phase process we have the water phase we have the emulsification phase and we have the cold process phase, the end we're going to add in our cactus oil. We also have some other essential oils blended in there.
Nancy: “When it comes to our natural body creams, we offer a variety of different types depending on what you need. We've got one called Boho Coco, which is the thickest and richest of the four, made for Deep Hydration. We have Serene Marine with hyaluronic acid as well as blue green algae for calming, and then Buzz Chill is our pick me up cream that doubles as a cellulite treatment.
